Outreach Program

Synergy comes from the Greek word synergia, meaning joint work and cooperative action among two or more forces that creates an enhanced combined effect.

SYNERGY EQUINE ASSISTED

 ACTIVITIES SERVICES

Are you an individual or family on a low income budget? You might qualify for the community outreach program and be able to take advantage of our services for free!

The center does not bill insurance companies directly. Contact yours to see if any of our many services are covered. You might also be able to claim a percentage on your income tax as well under the Healthy Living Tax Incentive ( We are recognised), depending on which service you paid for.

SERVICES: You NEED a SIGNED release form for ANY Equine Assisted Activity! What to wear: You must wear closed toe shoes or sneakers, no sandals. Do not wear strong perfumes, the horses don't like it. Depending on the season, horses may smell "funny" so do not wear your best clothes. We don't wash the horses when it is cold weather so expect to smell like a horse, sometimes, after you have been with them.    Directions, sorry NO drop ins.

Our miniature horses are perfect for calming, non threatening interactions. Our full size horse is only used for visual sensory stimulation, all hands on visits are done with the minis. It is a safe, non threatening, lovely experience.

Equine Assisted Wellness/ Learning Sessions are beneficial for so many reasons. Interactions with horses can provide emotional and physical health benefits for a broad range of people, including developmentally delayed children, youth and adults, those with autism spectrum disorders, the elderly, children with ADHD and ADD, those with learning disabilities, the physically disabled, and individuals living with chronic pain, depression, anxiety and other mental health issues. The movements associated with stroking, brushing, and walking equines are very beneficial for individuals with mobility, ambulatory and range of motion concerns.

Animal assisted visits can lower blood pressure and trigger the release of dopamine and serotonin in the brain, which can elevate mood. Animal assisted visits have also been documented to relieve pain and anxiety in many individuals. Animals respond to calm behaviour, thus rewarding calm behaviour in excitable and hyper sensitive children and youth. It also boosts self esteem in introverted children and youth. Animals communicate mainly non verbally, making them perfect for individuals who cannot speak and also those who live with autism spectrum disorders. They provide the tactile stimulation that these persons so dearly need in a safe and secure way, very different than when tactile stimulation is provided by another human. It is very non threatening with an animal.

Individuals, especially children, dealing with loss, tragedy, and trauma can also benefit from the animal visits. It allows them to start feeling emotions again towards a non threatening, living creature. Animals are non judgemental and live in the present moment. This facilitates emotional healing in individuals who are fearful of letting themselves feel emotions again and allows them to do so in a less vulnerable way.

Equine Assisted Wellness/Learning Visit: For INDIVIDUALS WHO LIVE with developmental or cognitive delays, Autism Spectrum and other disorders, behavioural problems, ADD and ADHD, Alzheimer's Disease or any other affliction that affects the mental or cognitive functioning. Also for individuals with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and individuals with movement or ambulatory issues.

*MUST BE ACCOMPANIED by an adult during visit. Fun for both individual and their caregiver.  Activities customized to each person's needs. Michelle will also be facilitating.

Equine & Teen Synergic Interactions:  For so called "teens at risk"; many studies have shown that spending time with a friendly animal, increases the amount of endorphins that are released into the body and decreases the levels of a chemical called cortisol - which is a hormone that controls stress and arousal. Because many troubled teens are in a near-constant state of emotional arousal and/or stress, synergic animal interactions can help them feel calmer. Teens will interact with a specific animal, building mutual respect and trust, have play time and also help in providing care and training for the miniatures horses, gaining practical experience in light chores and gaining a sense of self worth in the process.

Cost: 1/2 hour: $25.00     1 hour: $40.00   You might also qualify for the community outreach program and be able to take advantage this service for free!
